Versatex Fabric Paints

Most of the quilts in the gallery were hand painted using Versatex paint. It is especially formulated for painting on fabric. The paint is non-toxic and water based so it is easy to use. Versatex is one of the best for leaving the hand of the fabric soft. After painting, you heat set it with an iron very well. Washing the heat set fabric in Orvus will give you the softest hand. It works well on natural fibers such as cotton, silk, viscose rayon a, linen &  leather. There are three types of paint available - printing ink, fabric paint, and air brush ink. The difference is only the thickness. We sell the thickest which is the printing ink, and can easily be reduced.
Some of the colors, we find the most useful, do not come in the starter sets but they are available individually below. Also, you may want a larger quantity of specific colors for a project or just a favorite color. All are printing Ink.

Teflon Press Sheets

Teflon press sheet can be used to heat set the fabric paint. They are especially useful if you have heavy metallic paint which can drag on your iron. With the Teflon sheet, your iron can glide smoothly giving an even &  thorough heat set. This same sheet can be used with iron on interfacing or under a glue gun as the glues will peel off with light rubbing. The one we offer is a heavy grade and measures 18” x 18”.
*The Iron is for display purposes only, it is not included.
