There
is truth to be found in the juxtaposition of opposites. While mankind is
exploring outer space, the inner space of the oceans are also being explored. I
placed these on this quilt and laced them together to help integrate the design.
The sky is pieced from pinwheels with painted planets appliquéd onto it. The
planets used are in order from the earth outward. Each is in scale by size. This
quilt was done while Voyager was on it's way to Neptune, so there is no ring
around the planet. Austrian crystal beads are arranged in the pattern of my
favorite constellations--Orion and the Pleiades. The ocean and seals are painted
with soft-edge applique kelp. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

Each card has a photograph of one of the quilts glued onto the front. These note cards are on a heavy paper and have a decal edge. The
envelope paper matches the card stock. They are protected inside a clear plastic envelope so you can display them without damage. On the front Vicki L. Johnson has personally signed each card and identified the quilt on the back. Your own message can be written inside. The cards are 5 1/8” x 7”.
