Mendocino Fogbank © 1985-2003 Vicki L. Johnson 80"x 60" |

The
Northern California town of Mendocino, where I lived for eight years, is
pictured in this quilt.
A former logging town at the turn of the century, it was found in the
1960's by artists who have helped turn it into a resort area. The fog rolls
across the town as the creative spirit flows thru this coastal town of artists
and crafts people. The scene was painted with fabric paints and then the
buildings were appliquéd with soft-edge machine applique. The panels on
the sides repeat the colors flowing from fog to sunshine. |
